What is Ponatinib Tablets used for?
Ponatinib Tablets (ICLUSIG) are kinase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of adult patients with chronic phase, accelerated phase, or blast phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CML)
that is resistant or intolerant to prior tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy or
Philadelphia chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ALL) that
is resistant or intolerant to prior tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy (1).

HOW SUPPLIED/STORAGE AND HANDLING:
Iclusig tablets should be stored at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F); excursions permitted to 15°to 30° C (59° to 86° F) [
Controlled Room Temperature]. Keep away from children
DOSAGE
The recommended dose and schedule for Iclusig is 45 mg administered orally once daily. Continue treatment as long as the patient does not show evidence of disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
SIDE EFFECTS
The most common non-hematologic adverse reactions (≥ 20%) were hypertension, rash, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, dry skin, constipation, arthralgia, nausea, and pyrexia. Hematologic adverse reactions included thrombocytopenia, anemia, neutropenia, lymphopenia, and leukopenia
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
- Congestive Heart Failure: Monitor patients for signs or symptoms of congestive heart failure and treat
- Hypertension: Monitor for high blood pressure
- Pancreatitis: Monitor serum lipase monthly; interrupt or discontinue
- Hemorrhage: Interrupt Iclusig for serious or severe hemorrhage
- Fluid Retention: Monitor patients for fluid retention; interrupt, reduce, or discontinue
- Cardiac Arrhythmias: Monitor for symptoms of arrhythmias
- Myelosuppression: Thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and anemia may require dose interruption or reduction. Monitor complete blood counts every 2 weeks for 3 months and then monthly and as clinically indicated.
