SUPPLIED/STORAGE AND HANDLING
Care should be exercised in the handling of Veenat 400 mg & 100 mg. Imatinib tablets should not be opened or crushed. Store permitted between 15-30°C (59-86°F).
IMATINIB SIDE EFFECTS
The most common adverse reactions include Muscle pain, diarrhea, rash, vomiting, loss of appetite, weight gain and headache.
Some severe side effects include liver problems, fluid retention, gastrointestinal bleeding, and bone marrow suppression.
IMATINIB DOSAGE
Veenat 100 mg, 400 mg (Gleevec) should be taken by mouth at about the same time each day, with a meal or glass of water. Veenat tablets should be swallowed whole with water. The tablets should not be crushed, broken, opened or chewed.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
- Females carrying an intention to conceive a child shouldn`t use this medication.
- Use of Imatinib in prepubescent children may responsible for delay normal growth.
- Need to cautious while on Imatinib, it may cause the risk of severe CHF especially in patients with comorbidities.
