Lonsurf is a fixed-dose combination medication that combines Trifluridine, a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor, with Tipiracil, a thymidine phosphorylase inhibitor. It is prescribed for adult patients with the following conditions:
Metastatic colorectal cancer: The medicine can be used alone or alongside bevacizumab for patients who have already undergone treatment with fluoropyrimidine-, oxaliplatin-, and irinotecan-based chemotherapy, as well as anti-VEGF biological therapy. For those with RAS wild-type cancer, it is also used after anti-EGFR therapy.
Metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma: Lonsurf is an option for patients who have previously received at least two lines of chemotherapy, including a fluoropyrimidine, a platinum agent, and either a taxane or irinotecan. If applicable, it is also used in patients who have received HER2/neu-targeted therapy.
